Course Materials
- Prerequisites: Math 223 or Math 243, or Math 147 with a grade C- or higher, and Math 290 or Math 291.
- Course Coverage: This course intends to cover the basic materials from Chapter 1, 2, 3, 6, 7 in the text book. Here is a tentative schedule (Tentative Schedule).
- Reading: Reading will be assigned before almost each lecture. Completing the assigned reading will help students to grasp the new concepts during the lecture.
Most of the reading is to read the corresponding materials on the Text Book. So please do the assignment.
Grade Policy
- Homework: Homework is assigned almost every week on the blackboard, the due date is on
blackboard. No late
homework is ever accepted.
- Quizzes: Very
short quizzes are given in about every month period of the classes, mostly on Thursdays. You
must turn in the quizz to get credits.
- Projects: Two projects are assigned in the middle of classes.
- Midterm: There will two midterms of 50 minutes in class. The date is March 9 and April 13; and on class time.
- Final Exam: There is a comprehensive final exam in class. The time is May 13 at 10:30am -1:00pm.
- Grade Percentage: homework (20 %) + midterms (30 %) + projects (12 %)+ quizzes (8 %) + final (30 %).
- Grade Bonus::
At the end of the semester you will be allowed to make up several of your missed homeworks and quizzes. This
allows you to miss a few homeworks or a few quizzes with no
penalty in the beginning.
